Solution Seeking System

The Communication Protocol

The core of the system, in three steps

A framework for resolving disagreements, improving relationships, and generating sustainable solutions in any setting. It replaces reactive, adversarial conversations with a structured, respectful approach. The goal is not to win — it's to understand, be understood, and co-create solutions.

  1. 1

    Introspection

Understand yourself first — your feelings, needs, and goals.

Before engaging anyone else, understand your own perspective and then work to understand theirs with compassion. Forgive, move past your initial reaction, and identify the real feelings, needs, and motivations underneath it.

  2. 2

    Mutual Understanding

Fully understand the other person's perspective — and ensure they understand yours.

The other person's perspective is unknowable until you ask them. Through patient, vulnerable, two-way dialogue you build a shared, accurate picture of what happened — the only foundation a lasting solution can be built on.

  3. 3

    Solution Seeking

Collaboratively develop and agree on specific, measurable solutions.

Now that you understand each other, what can you do together? Transform shared understanding into concrete, actionable, equitable solutions — then implement, follow up, and iterate until they truly work for everyone.
